Breakaway Anglicans to form own body

Dissident Anglican churches in Canada and the United States say they will form a new conservative jurisdiction in the next year, adding that the Archbishop of Canterbury has lost the moral authority to have any real say in blocking the radical move.

Quincy & Fort Worth realign with Southern Cone

Two more dioceses--Quincy in Illinois and Fort Worth in Texas--have left The Episcopal Church. They follow in the footsteps of the dioceses of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania and San Joaquin in California. All four voted this year to realign with the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone on a temporary basis until a new province for orthodox Anglicans could be formed in North America--perhaps as early as Dec. 3.

Praying under police surveillance

It’s not very easy to pray when the other eye is looking for police to come in. At the daily Lambeth press conference on July 22nd, the Bishop of Harare, the Rt. Rev’d Sebastian Bakare, described the danger and persecution faced by the Anglican Christians of Zimbabwe. "We have not been allowed to worship in our church buildings every Sunday since November last year. Police surround our churches every morning."
