Five thousand Inuit in Labrador now have a fresh translation of the Bible in their "heart" language. In January the Canadian Bible Society presented the Inuttut Heritage Bible to the Moravian Church in Labrador.
The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada (EFC) has released a report entitled "Human Trafficking: A Report on Modern Day Slavery in Canada." The 30-page document reviews recent experience with human trafficking in association with major international events and recommends action that may be taken by the Canadian, British Columbia and Vancouver governments in preparation for the 2010 Olympic Games and beyond.
The Diocese of the Arctic hopes to begin construction of St Jude’s Cathedral in Iqaluit on Baffin Island in June. The original cathedral was destroyed by arson in November 2005.
After twenty-seven years of ministry in the Dioceses of the Arctic and Yukon, my wife and I responded to a new and exciting challenge in Uganda. We exchanged temperatures of minus 35 Celsius, blizzards and dried or frozen caribou and fish for plus 35 Celsius, torrential rains and boiled green bananas!
On March 8th the congregation of St Matthias’ Anglican Church in Victoria, B.C. voted decisively to leave the Anglican Church of Canada and realign with the Anglican Network in Canada (ANiC). It has placed itself under the episcopal oversight of Bishop Donald Harvey, moderator of ANiC, and the primatial authority of Archbishop Gregory Venables of the Anglican Province of the Southern Cone.
